Location

History

Issha Station opened on 1 April 1969 as a station on the Nagoya Municipal Subway Higashiyama Line. It is located in 2-chōme, Issha, Meitō-ku, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture; east of the station the Higashiyama Line emerges from underground and runs on an elevated line to its terminus at Fujigaoka Station. The "manaca" IC card came into use on 11 February 2011, and platform doors began operating on 8 February 2016. The station has two opposed platforms serving two tracks, and because it rises to ground level on its east side it has no central concourse, with each exit instead having its own ticket gate — a distinctive layout.

Notes

Exit 2 adjoins a bus terminal that doubles as the Nagoya municipal bus "Issha" stop, an arrangement unusual for an urban station adjacent to an elevated section of the Higashiyama Line.
