History

Ishikawa Station is a stop in Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture, on the Kōnan Railway's Ōwani Line, 4.4 kilometers from the line's southern terminus at Ōwani Station. It opened on 26 January 1952 as Shin-Ishikawa Station, then part of the Hirosaki Electric Railway; it was transferred to Kōnan Railway on 1 October 1970, and the station took its present name on 1 April 1986. It has a single island platform with two tracks, no station building beyond a weather shelter, and is unattended. In December 2024, it was announced that the Ōwani Line will close by the end of 2026, after which the station is expected to close as well.

Notes

The station stands near Daibutsu Park, the site of the former Ishikawa Castle, the residence of Ishikawa Takanobu and once a stronghold from which the Nanbu clan controlled the Tsugaru region.
