History
Iseki Station was established as a terminal, general-service station on 30 March 1930, when the Ministry of Railways' Meishō Line was extended from Gongenmae Station to this station. On 11 September 1931, the following year, the line was extended between this station and Iegi Station, making it a through station. Freight and baggage handling were discontinued on 1 October 1965. It became a station of JR Central with the division and privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. Its waiting shelter was removed in 2024. It is now an unstaffed station managed by Matsusaka Station, a ground-level station with a single side platform serving one track on the south side of the line; remnants of former passing facilities remain within the station grounds, including a disused former side platform and track disconnected from the main line.
Notes
It is considered among the least-used permanent stations in Mie Prefecture, and the nearby Kintetsu Osaka Line's Ise-Ishibashi Station lies about 2.3 km to the north, a 30-minute walk away.
