History
Inatoi Station is a station of the Kantō Railway Jōsō Line, located at Yonoi, Toride, Ibaraki Prefecture, established on 1 November 1913 with the opening of the Jōsō Railway. It became a station of the Jōsō Tsukuba Railway through a merger with the (first) Tsukuba Railway on 30 March 1945, and a station of the Kantō Railway through a merger with the Kashima Sangū Railway on 1 June 1965. The section between Terahara, Inatoi, and Minami-Moriya stations was double-tracked on 8 December 1982. The PASMO IC card became usable there from 14 March 2009; the station became unstaffed during certain hours from 16 February 2010, and unstaffed all day from 16 May 2013. It is a ground-level station with two opposed side platforms serving two tracks, with a level crossing within the station grounds toward Shimodate. In 2008, work to reduce the step between platform and train was accompanied by stair renovation and the installation of a wheelchair-accessible ramp.
Notes
The station name derives from the former village of Inatoi, itself a composite place name formed from the place names Ina, Togashira, Nonoi, and Yonoi.
