History
Inahara Station opened on 14 December 1930 as a station on the Japanese National Railways Kisei West Line. The Kisei West Line had not originally been planned to pass through Inahara, but it is said that the route was changed and the station's establishment made possible after the then-mayor of Inahara village, Natsumi Kōtarō, petitioned the Ministry of Railways. It came under the Kisei Main Line when that line was completed through on 15 July 1959. Freight handling ended in 1963 and parcel handling in 1978, and the station became unstaffed on 14 March 1985. It became a JR West station at the 1 April 1987 division and privatization of Japanese National Railways, and the ICOCA IC card became usable on 14 March 2020.
Notes
The station has an unusual origin: at the petition of Natsumi Kōtarō, then head of Inahara Village, it was built on a route that had not originally been planned, the village head's lobbying being what brought about its opening.
