History
Imazato Station opened on 30 April 1914 under an earlier name, on Osaka Electric Tramway's newly opened Nara Line, standing on street trackage at the time. It was renamed in 1922, then Imazato in 1929, and rebuilt as an elevated double-track viaduct in March 1937. Mergers made it a Kansai Kyuko Railway station in 1941 and a Kintetsu station in 1944. Quadruple-tracking, completed in December 1956, separated the Osaka and Nara Line tracks, added an inbound Osaka Line platform, and let Osaka Line trains stop there. The elevated station now has three platforms and four tracks, serving the Osaka and Nara Lines (D05, A05) in Ikuno-ku, Osaka, and has been unstaffed and remotely monitored since 10 November 2024.
Notes
Although Nara Line trains stop at Imazato Station over the shared quadruple track, the track itself is classified only as Osaka Line; an Osaka Metro station of the same name about 900 meters away is not treated as a connecting transfer point.
