History
Imaike Station is a tram stop on Hankai Electric Tramway's Hankai Line, numbered HN53, in Nishinari-ku, Osaka. It was opened by the Hankai Electric Tramway on 1 December 1911. The connecting Hirano Line opened in 1914; operation then passed to Nankai Railway in 1915, Kinki Nippon Railway in 1944, and Nankai Electric Railway in 1947. The Hirano Line was abolished on 28 November 1980, and a separate line transfer on 1 December 1980 made the station part of Hankai Electric Tramway, its present operator. From 1949 it also served as a transfer point with Nankai's now-abolished Tennoji Line. The station sits on an embankment with two side platforms linked by a level crossing, and today serves only the Hankai Line.
Notes
South of the station, physical traces of the branch line that once carried the now-abolished Hirano Line are still visible today.
