History

Imagawa Station opened on 1 June 1931 as "Komagawa Station" between Kita-Tanabe and Harinakano on the Osaka Railway. It was renamed Imagawa Station on 1 April 1933, and became a station of the Tennōji Line of the Kansai Express Railway when that company merged with the Osaka Railway on 1 February 1943. In the wartime consolidation of 1 June 1944, the Kansai Express Railway merged with the Nankai Railway to form Kintetsu (Kinki Nippon Railway), and the station became one on the Kintetsu Minami Osaka Line. It became an elevated station when the line was elevated on 6 December 1987, and in April 1989 passing tracks and permanent platforms were installed, completing its present form with a through track in the centre. PiTaPa use began on 1 April 2007.

Notes

The station adopts a Shinkansen-style passing arrangement with a through track sandwiched in the centre, the same layout as Hyōtanyama and Kawachi-Amami stations.
