History

Ichikawa-Hommachi Station opened on 1 October 1930 as Ichikawa-Hommachi halt on the Fuji Minobu Railway. The state leased the line on 1 October 1938, and the halt was simultaneously upgraded to a station and began handling freight. It was nationalized on 1 May 1941, becoming a station on the Ministry of Railways' Minobu Line, and the station building was rebuilt in February 1950. Freight handling ended on 15 November 1956 and parcel handling on 20 September 1972. It became a station of JR Central with the division and privatization of JNR on 1 April 1987, and on 30 September 1995, when the Fujikawa express train was upgraded to a limited express, the station became served only by local trains and was simultaneously unstaffed. The IC card TOICA began service on 1 October 2025.

Notes

In the era of the Fujikawa express, this station rather than the neighboring Ichikawa-Daimon Station was made a stopping station, because the surrounding area — with a town hall, shopping street, residential area, and high school — had many users.
