History

Ichikawa-Daimon Station opened on 17 December 1927 as a general-service terminus when the Fuji Minobu Railway line was extended from Minobu Station. On 30 March 1928 the line was extended to Kōfu Station, making it a through station. The Fuji Minobu Railway was leased to the Ministry of Railways on 1 October 1938, and nationalized on 1 May 1941. Freight handling ended on 1 October 1974, and the station was unstaffed on 1 April 1985, after which it became a station of JR Central with the division and privatization of JNR on 1 April 1987. On 15 October 1995 the station building was rebuilt in a Chinese style to match the Daimon Hirin Park, which had opened in 1994. It is located in Ichikawamisato, Nishiyatsushiro District, Yamanashi Prefecture, and all trains, including the Fujikawa limited express, stop there.

Notes

The station building has a Chinese-style design matching Daimon Hirin Park and is a combined structure with the Ichikawa-Daimon Shimo District Community Center; inside, community-center facilities include a cooking practice room and a bathhouse reserved for town residents.
