History
Honmachi 3-chōme Station is a stop on the Iyotetsu Honmachi Line in Honmachi 2-chōme, Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, with stop number 26, used by route 6. It opened on 1 September 1911 as the terminus of the Matsuyama Electric Tramway under the name Fudanotsuji Station, and on the 19th of the same month the Matsuyama Electric Tramway extended the line to Honmachi Station (now Honmachi 4-chōme Station). Following a corporate merger on 1 April 1921, it became a stop on the Iyotetsu Jōnan Line. On 19 August 1946, it was suspended along with the section of the former Matsuyama Electric Tramway line running Nishi-Horibata–Honmachi–Kayamachi–Komachi. It reopened on 1 July 1948 as the Honmachi Line's Honmachi 2-chōme Station, and was renamed, at an unrecorded date, to its present name, Honmachi 3-chōme Station. From 11 April 2020, all services were suspended on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays because of the COVID-19 pandemic, a change formalized in the timetable revision of 23 July of the same year.
Notes
Honmachi 3-chōme Station, which opened on 1 September 1911 as Fudanotsuji Station, is one of the oldest stops on the Iyotetsu Honmachi Line. The line was extended to Honmachi (now Honmachi 4-chōme) just 18 days later, on the 19th of the same month, so its time as a terminus was extremely brief.
