History
Honjin Station opened on 1 April 1969 as a station of the Nagoya Municipal Subway's Higashiyama Line, in Toriidōri 2-chōme, Nakamura-ku, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture. Its station number is H06, and a bus terminal in front of the station was built at the same time. The IC card "manaca" entered service on 11 February 2011, and platform-edge doors entered use on 12 October 2015. In August 2019 a renaming was considered by the subway station-naming consultative council, but the change was shelved on the grounds that the current name had become established among residents, and the matter was settled on 4 January 2023 by instead adding "Nakamura Ward Office" as a subsidiary station name. It is an underground station with opposed platforms serving two tracks, administered by the Higashiyama Line Station Affairs Section's Nagoya District Station.
Notes
The north ticket gate connects only to the platform for trains bound for Fujigaoka, and the south ticket gate only to the platform for trains bound for Takabata, with no passageway inside the gates connecting the two platforms, so passengers must check their direction of travel before entering.
