History
Hon-Kugenuma Station opened on 1 April 1929 with the inauguration of the Odakyū Enoshima Line, in what is today the city of Fujisawa, Kanagawa Prefecture. It originally served as a stop for the line's "Chokutsū" through services from Shinjuku, which were abolished in June 1945, after which all-stations trains ran the full line and called here. The Fujisawa - Katase-Enoshima section was reduced to single track on 16 November 1943 when its rails were requisitioned; double track was restored between Fujisawa and Hon-Kugenuma in October 1946 and onward to Katase-Enoshima in April 1949. The platforms hold only six cars, and from 22 August 1998 some ten-car express trains began passing the station; the timetable revision of 17 March 2018 dropped it from the express stopping pattern altogether, leaving only local services today.
