History
Hizen-Ōura Station opened on 1 December 1934 as a general station with the opening of the Railway Ministry's Nagasaki Main Line between Tara and Yue Stations (the original line, completed via Nagayo). It was named with the old province prefixed to distinguish it from Ōura Station on Niigata Prefecture's Yahiko Line (abolished 1985), becoming "Hizen-Ōura." Freight handling ended in February 1962, parcel handling ended in September 1982, and the station became unstaffed in January 1983. It was transferred to JR Kyushu at the JNR privatization of 1 April 1987. On 23 September 2022 this station was included in the non-electrified section between Hizen-Hama and Nagasaki Stations. It is located at Ōaza Ōura-hei, Tara-chō, Fujitsu District, Saga Prefecture, and is the southernmost station in Saga Prefecture.
Notes
This station is the southernmost in Saga Prefecture, with the prefectural border between Saga and Nagasaki lying between here and neighboring Konagai Station.
