History
Hizen-Nagata Station opened on 24 March 1934 as a Ministry of Railways station. Freight handling ended on 15 February 1962, and the station became unstaffed when baggage handling ended on 10 February 1972. It was transferred to JR Kyushu at the division and privatization of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. On 23 September 2022 the section from Hizen-Hama Station to Nagasaki Station was de-electrified. It is a ground-level station with two opposed platforms serving two tracks, using a single-track-through arrangement with the down line as the through track; the only entrance is on the up-line side, away from National Route 207.
Notes
A ticket vending machine stands near the entrance, but it has been out of service since the summer of 2022.
