History
Hiyodorigoe Station is a station on the Kobe Electric Railway Arima Line at Satoyama-chō, Kita-ku, Kobe, Hyōgo Prefecture, established when the Kobe Arima Electric Railway opened its line between Minatogawa and Dentetsu-Arima (now Arima Onsen) on 28 November 1928. It stands at an elevation of 134 metres. The operating company changed its name several times thereafter: to Shin'yū-Miki Electric Railway following its 9 January 1947 merger with the Miki Electric Railway, to Kōbe Denki Tetsudō (Kobe Electric Railway) on 30 April 1949, and to its present name, Kōbe Dentetsu (Kobe Electric Railway, commonly Shintetsu), on 1 April 1988. It is a ground-level station with two opposed platforms serving two tracks; because the platforms lie on a sharp curve, fall-detection mats and ITV monitoring cameras are installed. On 11 March 2005 an independent ticket gate was newly built on the up-platform side, and the overhead footbridge was abolished as a result. The station has a remote station-operations system connected to a fibre-optic network along the line, and is visited by patrolling staff.
Notes
A series of serious accidents occurred from the prewar into the wartime period: on 29 August 1938 a head-on collision in a tunnel near the station killed one person, and on 12 February 1944 a special train carrying students of Hokushin Commercial School derailed and overturned near the station after exceeding the speed limit, killing 28.
