History
Hiu Station opened on 26 December 1910 as a Railway Board station. Wagonload freight handling began on 1 November 1949 and ended on 15 February 1962. Parcel handling ended on 20 October 1971, and the station became unstaffed the same day. It became a Kyushu Railway Company (JR Kyushu) station at the JNR privatization of 1 April 1987. The IC card "SUGOCA" became usable there from 3 October 2024. It is located in Hiu-chō, Sasebo City, Nagasaki Prefecture, on the Sasebo Line, though Ōmura Line trains running through from Haiki Station can also be used there. It is a ground-level station with one island platform, two tracks, and one siding, and remains unstaffed.
Notes
Inside the platform waiting shelter, a bamboo monument reads "Second from JR Japan's westernmost station."
