Location

History

Hiraishi Station is a stop on the Utsunomiya Haga Light Rail Line, operated by Utsunomiya Light Rail, in the Shimohiraide-cho district of Utsunomiya. During planning it was known by the placeholder name Hiradecho; the present name was finalized on 23 April 2021, and the station opened on 26 August 2023 as stop number 07. Built at grade, it has two island platforms serving four tracks and adjoins a train depot linked to the main line by siding tracks; it is the line's only stop with scheduled overnight train stabling. An adjoining transit center gives it park-and-ride access, and since March 2026 it has also carried the sub-name Ark Town Utsunomiya-mae, after a park opened just to its north.

Notes

At the station's opening on 26 August 2023, a special train from Utsunomiya Station's east exit was greeted by about 250 well-wishers, and the mayor presented a yellow flag bearing written messages to three pupils from Hiraishi Chuo Elementary School.
