History

Hinobori Station opened on 18 December 1932, when the Ministry of Railways' Kisuki Line opened between Kisuki Station and Izumo-Mitsugi Station. It was placed under a staffing contract in November 1959, freight handling ended in September 1961, and parcel handling ended along with a shift to a simplified staffing contract in October 1971; the contractor changed to the construction company Itamochi Doboku in November of that year. It became a station of JR West at the privatization of Japanese National Railways in April 1987, and renovation work on the station building was completed in May 2018, marked with a commemorative ceremony. It is a ground-level station (halt) with a single side platform on the left side facing Bingo-Ochiai, and the wooden station building survives; the station office is used as an office of Itamochi Doboku. It is located in Jiryō, Kisuki-chō, Unnan, Shimane Prefecture, and its nickname is "Susanoo-no-Mikoto."

Notes

The station office is still used today as an office of the construction company Itamochi Doboku, and ticket sales of standard pre-printed tickets over the counter are also conducted during business hours on weekdays and some Saturdays.
