History

Hikosaki Station was established on 12 June 1910 as Ajino Station, at the same time as the opening of the state-run railway's Uno Line. At the time its address was given as Hikosaki, Nadasaki-mura, Kojima District, Okayama Prefecture. It was renamed Hikosaki Station on 1 July 1914, and, after subsequent town incorporations and mergers, it is now located at Hikosaki, Minami-ku, Okayama. It became a station of JR West with the division and privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987, and has been assigned station number JR-L09 on the Uno Line (Uno Minato Line).

Notes

From its 1910 opening until 1914, the station was called "Ajino Station."
