History
Hikime Station opened on 6 November 1934 as part of the Japanese Government Railways' Yamada Line in what is now Miyako, Iwate Prefecture. Storm damage closed the station from 26 November 1946, and service was restored as far as Moichi on 5 March 1949. Freight service ended on 1 November 1961, and parcel handling on 15 November 1982, leaving the station unstaffed. JNR's 1987 privatisation transferred it to JR East. The original wooden station building has been removed; only a platform-mounted waiting room remains alongside the single bi-directional track.
Notes
Storm damage on 26 November 1946 severed the Yamada Line between Hikime and Hiratsudo, and the station spent well over two years out of service before trains ran again as far as Moichi on 5 March 1949.
