History

Hijiyama-bashi opened on 27 December 1944. Station number H6 was assigned in October 1996 and the number was changed to H03 on 3 August 2025. The stop sits in Hijiyama-honmachi, Minami-ku, with the Kyōbashi River to the west and the Hijiyama Bridge — itself a bombing-survivor structure — immediately adjacent to the platforms; a hibaku stone marker, the "Hiroshima Prefectural Road Origin Stone", stands at the foot of the bridge. The opposite (western) bank is Naka-ku, residential in character; the eastern side is the southern foot of Mt. Hijiyama, with administrative facilities including the Hiroshima Prefectural Government Hiroshima Regional Office Construction Bureau and the Hiroshima Prefectural Food Industry Technology Centre clustered nearby. The two low-floor platforms face each other across the two tracks on street-running track, the down platform towards Minami-machi 6-chome lying to the left of the line as seen from its origin and the up platform towards Hijiyama-shita to the right.

Notes

The Hijiyama Bridge beside the stop is one of Hiroshima's surviving bombing-era bridges, and at its foot stands a hibaku stone monument, the "Hiroshima Prefectural Road Origin Stone".
