History
Higiri Station opened on 23 July 1985 as a new stop on the Ōigawa Railway Main Line. Service was suspended after a landslide at Kamio Station on 17 August 2003 and resumed on 25 October 2003. The station has a single side platform with a plastic-corrugated wait shelter at its north (Senzu-side) exit; it is unattended with no station building and no toilet.
Notes
Although the administrative centre of Kanaya — served on this line by Daikanchō Station — is within walking distance, Higiri has so few stopping trains that even local residents scarcely use it; the Ōshiro interchange of the Kanaya Bypass lies just west of the station and is clearly visible from the platform, yet the road signs there direct traffic to Shin-Kanaya Station rather than to Higiri.
