History
Higashi-Miyahara Station opened on 22 December 1983 with the start of the Saitama New Urban Transit Ina Line (New Shuttle), with station code NS04. On 1 May 2001, after the merger of Urawa, Ōmiya and Yono, the address was updated to Saitama City, and on 1 April 2003, when Saitama City became a designated city, it became Saitama City Kita-ku. It is an elevated station with two side platforms and two tracks, with the Tōhoku and Jōetsu Shinkansen viaduct between them; the ticket gates are at the Uchijuku end. The Suica IC card became usable on 18 March 2007. The station sits at the eastern edge of Miyahara-chō in Kita-ku, around 800 m east of JR East's Miyahara Station on the Takasaki Line; substitute transport between the two stations is sometimes arranged when the Takasaki Line is suspended.
Notes
When services on the JR Takasaki Line are suspended, substitute transport is sometimes arranged between Higashi-Miyahara and JR Miyahara Station, about 800 metres to the west; the two stations are linked in 10 to 15 minutes on foot, and also by bus.
