History
Hibari Station is a station on Hokuriku Railroad's Ishikawa Line at Hibari 2-chōme, Hakusan, Ishikawa Prefecture, which opened on 14 March 2015, with station number I11. It was a petition station, built with the Hakusan City Soya-machi Land Readjustment Association bearing construction costs of roughly 80 million yen; it was the first new station on the Ishikawa Line, and the first new station on Hokuriku Railroad as a whole in 55 years, since Oki Station opened on the Komatsu Line in 1960. The Hokuriku Shin'etsu Transport Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism approved the new station's construction on 31 July 2014, and the station began operation following a completion ceremony on 8 March 2015. On 4 March 2017, the town name was changed from Soya-machi to Hibari as part of the surrounding land readjustment project.
Notes
The station's name is a coined term, chosen by the local land readjustment association to express the aspiration "a place to soar upward like a skylark taking flight beneath a shining sun."
