History
Heiwadōri 1-chōme Station is an Iyotetsu stop in Heiwadōri 1-chōme, Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, with station number 15. It is used by city tram (Matsuyama City Line) routes 1 and 2. It was established on 1 December 1969 with a track realignment between Kami-Ichiman Station and Sekijūji-byōin-mae Station. Before then, the Jōhoku Line ran through from the direction of Kiyachō to Dōgo-Onsen, and Kami-Ichiman Station was a stand-alone double-track junction facing Katsuyama-dōri (Prefectural Route 20); when that junction was abolished and a new Jōnan Line branch toward Katsuyamachō was laid instead, Kami-Ichiman Station was relocated to the south side of the intersection, and this station was newly built to preserve convenience for the former station's users.
Notes
This station was newly established with the 1969 realignment of the Jōhoku and Jōnan lines, which marked the start of the present loop-line operation; it was set up to carry on the convenience that Kami-Ichiman Station had previously provided for users along Katsuyama-dōri (Prefectural Route 20) before the realignment.
