History

Hatchobori Station is a Hiroden (Hiroshima Electric Railway) tram stop in Naka-ku, Hiroshima, where the Hiroden Main Line and Hiroden Hakushima Line meet. It opened on 23 November 1912, when both lines began service together along a road that, as the name suggests, was built over Hiroshima Castle's filled-in outer moat. The atomic bombing of Hiroshima on 6 August 1945 damaged the network; the Main Line reopened in stages that autumn, while the Hakushima Line was rerouted onto newly built Hakushima Boulevard and did not resume until 10 June 1952. The station has three side platforms; routes 1, 2 and 6 run from Hiroshima Station to Hiroshima Port, Hiroden-miyajima-guchi and Eba, while route 9 alone connects Hakushima and Eba.

Notes

Though normally unstaffed, Hatchobori is temporarily staffed with portable fare boxes during Hiroshima's Flower Festival and Tokasan Festival.
