History

Harima-Tokusa Station was established on 30 July 1935, to coincide with the Railway Ministry's extension of the Himezu East Line (now the Kishin Line) from Mikazuki to Sayō. At the time it was located in Shimo-Tokusa, Tokusa village, Sayō District, Hyōgo Prefecture. When the Himeji–Higashi-Tsuyama section was completed through on 8 April 1936, the following year, it came under the Himezu Line, and on 10 October it was further incorporated into the Kishin Line. Freight and parcel handling ended on 1 March 1971, and the station was unstaffed on 1 November 1986. It became a JR West station at the division and privatization of JNR on 1 April 1987. On 21 March 1994 the passing facilities were removed, leaving it a through-track station, and the former down-line platform was closed. In 2000 the station building was rebuilt as a joint structure with the local "Himawari-no-Sato Fureai Center" facility.

Notes

During the blooming period from early July to early August, special buses run from the station to the Nankō sunflower fields nearby.
