History

Hanno Station opened on 10 April 1927 as the first-generation Minosuhara Station, the terminus when the Ministry of Railways' Etsumi-Nanbo Line was extended between Itatoriguchi Station (now Yunohora-Onsen-guchi) and this station. On 9 October that year, the line was extended from this station to Mino-Shimokawa Station (now Ōya), making it a through station. It was renamed the first-generation Konno Station on 20 December 1956, and the following year, 1957, a second-generation Minosuhara Station (now Suhara Station) was newly built. Freight handling ended on 10 October 1959, and parcel handling ended with the station becoming unstaffed on 27 April 1961. When the Etsumi-Nanbo Line was converted to the Nagara River Railway on 11 December 1986, the station passed to that company and was renamed Hanno Station, and a second-generation Konno Station was newly built at the same time.

Notes

Until Minosuhara Station (now Suhara Station) opened in 1957, this station was the nearest one to Suhara Shrine and was bustling with worshippers.
