Location

History

Hanazonochō Station opened as a terminus on 10 May 1942, when the Osaka Municipal Subway Line 3 (now the Yotsubashi Line) opened between Daikokuchō and this station. The line was extended to Kishinosato Station on 1 June 1956, making it a through station. A connecting passage linking the up and down platforms was built in 1974, and in 1991 a municipal bicycle parking facility opened in the basement of the former Osaka Municipal Kōji Elementary School building, northeast of the Hanazono intersection on National Route 26. The station became one of the Osaka Metropolitan Rapid Transport Authority (Osaka Metro) with the privatisation of the Osaka Municipal Transportation Bureau on 1 April 2018, and platform screen doors began operating on 11 October 2024. It is an underground station with two opposed platforms serving two tracks; both the ticket gates and the platforms are on basement level 1. Its station number is Y17.

Notes

After the Sakaisuji Line was extended south to Tengachaya in 1993, Hanazonochō's catchment was squeezed and it has since had the second-lowest ridership on the Yotsubashi Line.
