History
Hanandō Station (F17) is a Fukui Railway Fukubu Line station in Hanandō-Kita 1-chōme, Fukui City. It opened on 26 July 1925 with the Fukubu Electric Railway's extension from Heiei (now Shinmei) to Fukui-shi (now Sekijūji-mae). On 1 August 1945 it became part of the newly formed Fukui Railway, and on 12 July 1950 the section from this station to Fukui-shin was doubled. Freight handling ended on 1 June 1977, and the station was unstaffed on 1 September 1977.
Notes
When Hanandō still handled freight it was a combined passenger and freight station with two platforms and four tracks, and traces of the former sidings remain behind the present platforms. Beyond the station the line towards Takefu-shin becomes single track, and the points there are covered by a tunnel-shaped snow shelter of the kind seen at Fukui Railway's passing-loop stations.
