Location

History

Hamano Station serves the JR East Uchibo Line in Murata-machi, Chuo-ku, Chiba, lying 3.4 km from Soga, the line's starting point. It opened on 28 March 1912 on the Japanese Government Railways Kisarazu Line, which was renamed the Hojo Line on 24 May 1919, the Boso Line on 15 April 1929, and the Bosonishi Line on 1 April 1933. After World War II it became part of the JNR Uchibo Line on 15 July 1972, and joined JR East at privatisation on 1 April 1987. On 14 March 2009 the platform was extended to handle 15-car trains and the station became a rapid-service stop.

Notes

Since April 2010 the Meitoku-Hamano-Eki nursery school has operated between the station's west staircase and the platform, allowing commuters to drop their children off on their way to work.
