History

Shirayama opened on 30 April 1912 as a station on the Takamatsu Electric Tramway. A passing loop and second opposed-side platform were added in 1935. The 1 November 1943 wartime merger made it a Takamatsu-Kotohira Electric Railroad (Kotoden) Nagao Line station. The passing facility was removed on 25 July 1947 when the neighbouring Shingyōji (now Ido) Station opened.

Notes

Mount Shirayama, one of the "Seven Mount Fuji of Sanuki" — the seven peaks of Sanuki, now Kagawa Prefecture, likened to Mount Fuji — rises close to the station.
