History

Hakkeijima Station opened on 5 July 1989, together with the opening of the Yokohama Seaside Line between Shin-Sugita and Kanazawa-Hakkei. Its station number is 10, and its subsidiary name is "In front of Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise." In 1998 it was selected as one of the 100 Best Stations of the Kantō Region, cited as a "small yet grand station in harmony with the sea." Its ticket vending machines were renewed on 24 March 2005, and in October 2009 restrooms and a multipurpose restroom were installed on the station grounds. It is an elevated station with an island platform serving two tracks; it is unstaffed on weekdays but staffed on weekends, holidays, and during busy periods. From 12 May to 1 June 2019, as part of a "Kantai Collection" collaboration, the platform announcements were changed for a limited time to the voices of the characters "Murasame" and "Shigure."

Notes
