History
Hadakajima Station opened on 17 December 1927 as Kai-Shimoyama Station when the Fuji Minobu Railway's Minobu–Ichikawa Daimon section opened. It was renamed Shimoyama-Hadakajima Station in 1930, and took its current name, Hadakajima, on 1 October 1938 when the Fuji Minobu Railway was leased to the Ministry of Railways. It was nationalized on 1 May 1941, becoming a station on the Ministry of Railways' Minobu Line, and freight handling ended on 20 September 1972. The station became unstaffed on 1 June 1983, and passed to JR Central at the privatization of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. The station building was rebuilt in 2016 as a simplified single-story structure containing only a waiting room.
Notes
In the 1984 film Ohan, a scene was filmed of actress Sayuri Yoshinaga sitting on a single-plank bench placed on the station platform.
