History
Hachiman-mae Station opened on 1 December 1928 as a station on the Kurama Electric Railway. It became a station on the Keifuku Electric Railroad Kurama Line through a corporate merger on 1 August 1942, and on 10 November 1944 the section between Yamabana and Nikenchaya, including this station, was singled as part of wartime material requisitioning. The section between Takaragaike and Iwakura, including this station, was doubled again on 9 April 1958, and on 1 April 1986 Keifuku Electric Railroad transferred the Kurama Line to Eizan Electric Railway, making it a station on the Eizan Electric Railway Kurama Line. It is an unstaffed station with two opposed platforms serving two tracks; in reference to Miyake Hachiman Shrine, which gave the station its name, its fences and shelter pillars were once painted vermilion. It carries station number E09.
Notes
Since 2013, under the name "Hachiman-mae Station Project," volunteer students from Doshisha Junior High School who commute via the station have worked together with Eizan Electric Railway on ongoing station-improvement activities such as repainting, posting wall newspapers, and putting up Christmas decorations.
