History
Goryōkaku-kōen-mae Stop (DY09) is on the Hakodate City Tram Yunokawa Line in Honchō, Hakodate, Hokkaidō. It opened on 29 June 1913 as Goryōkaku Stop, was renamed Goryōkaku-kōen-mae on 4 May 1949, became the junction with the Miyamae Line on 1 July 1951, lost that junction when the Miyamae Line was abolished on 1 April 1993, gained a Nomura Securities-mae naming-rights sub-name on 29 September 2008, and completed an August–November 2015 safety-island reconstruction on 16 November 2015 — converting the platforms from opposed (sōtai-shiki) to staggered (chidori-shiki). Despite the name, the stop is about 850 m from Goryōkaku Park itself, the closest streetcar stop to the park.
Notes
The Yunokawa-bound platform has an LED tram-approach indicator. When a tram leaves the previous stop, Chūō-byōin-mae, a melody arranged from the introduction of "Hakodate Sanka" plays and the announcement follows; when the tram's pantograph then passes a trolley contactor on the overhead wire just short of the platform, the display switches to "Goryōkaku-kōen-mae" to tell alighting passengers where they are. After a set interval it cycles through stop information, restarting the whole sequence whenever a tram leaves the previous stop.
