Goryō Station opened on 11 January 1999 with the inauguration of the Ibara Railway Ibara Line.

An unstaffed elevated station with two opposed side platforms allowing trains to pass one another, Goryō has a waiting area beneath the viaduct but no ticket machines; the lower part of the station nameplate carries an illustration whose motifs are the nearby Dōdō Park and a demon legend.
