Location

History

Ginza-itchōme Station opened on 30 October 1974 as the southern terminus of the Teito Rapid Transit Authority's new Yūrakuchō Line, initially operating with a temporary platform of a little over 140 metres at the Ikebukuro end because parts of the station were unfinished. The permanent platforms — a single-track platform on each of two stacked levels — entered service on 18 June 1976, and on 27 March 1980 the line was extended to Shintomichō, demoting Ginza-itchōme to an intermediate stop. Privatisation moved the station to Tokyo Metro on 1 April 2004 and PASMO acceptance began on 18 March 2007. Platform-edge doors were activated on 14 April 2012, and from 6 June 2020 the station became an official transfer point for Ginza Station on the Ginza, Marunouchi and Hibiya lines, reached by a surface walk of roughly 200 to 300 metres since no connecting passage could be built.

Notes

Ginza-itchōme had automatic ticket gates from the day it opened, as did Nakano-sakaue and Ebisu, but they were taken out within a few years after passengers repeatedly jammed them with non-magnetic tickets brought in from other lines; automatic gates returned with the full rollout from 1990.
