History

Gakuen-Mae Station, station H10 on the Sapporo Municipal Subway Tōhō Line, opened on 14 October 1994 with the extension of the Tōhō Line from Hōsui-Susukino to Fukuzumi. Before construction began the planning name had been 'Toyohira Station'. The station sits beneath National Route 453 with a single island platform; exit 3 links the south ticket gate directly to Hokkai Gakuen University, one of the Hokkai Gakuen group's schools beside the station alongside Hokkai Shōka University, Hokkai High School and Hokkai Gakuen Sapporo High School. A fourth exit, connecting to Hokkai Shōka University's new building, was added when that building was completed in 2006. Platform-edge screen doors entered service on 3 November 2016.
