History
Gakuenmae Station is a railway station on the Keisei Chihara Line, operated by Keisei Electric Railway, in Oyumino-chūō, Midori-ku, Chiba. It opened on 1 April 1995 as a station of the Chiba Kyūkō Dentetsu's Chiba Kyūkō Line; when that company transferred its business to Keisei Electric Railway on 1 October 1998, the station became part of the Keisei Chihara Line. The name, meaning "in front of the school," was chosen for a planned Meiji University campus that was later cancelled; the nearby Chiba Meitoku Gakuen schools are unrelated to the naming. Since 17 July 2010 it has carried station number KS63; it has two ground-level opposed side platforms and an elevated, bridge-type station building, and is staffed.
Notes
Just beyond the station toward Ōmoridai a reversing siding is provided, and room has deliberately been kept on both approaches in case the platforms are ever lengthened.
