History

Fukuroda Station opened as a national railway station on 10 March 1927. Freight handling was discontinued in 1962, and with the introduction of CTC on the Suigun Line on 1 June 1983 the station became unstaffed, operating as a simplified-consignment station selling tickets inside the station building. It passed to JR East with the division and privatization of the national railway on 1 April 1987. The present log-cabin-style station building was completed on 4 March 1991. The Reiwa 1 East Japan Typhoon (Typhoon Hagibis) of 13 October 2019 severed the Suigun Line, and service resumed in stages: between Saigane and this station on 4 July 2020, and between this station and Hitachi-Daigo the following year, on 27 March 2021. The station is located in Ōaza Fukuroda, Daigo, Kuji District, Ibaraki Prefecture, and is now a simplified-consignment station managed by the Suigun Line Control Center.

Notes

Before its passing-loop facilities were removed, the station had two facing platforms serving two tracks; a miniature model of Fukuroda Falls has been placed on the former platform left after the removal.
