Fujine Station opened on 25 March 1921 on what is now the Kitakami Line, in present-day Kitakami, Iwate Prefecture. It was absorbed into the JR East network at the privatisation of the Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. Located 8.4 km from the line's eastern terminus at Kitakami, the station lies near National Route 107 and the Akita Expressway.
