History

Fujimichō Station opened on 7 March 1970, together with the opening of the Shōnan Monorail's Enoshima Line between Ōfuna and Nishi-Kamakura. Its station number is SMR2. It is the Shōnan Monorail's only elevated station with opposed platforms serving two tracks; the up and down platforms are not numbered and have no destination indicator boards. Because the up and down platforms each have their own separate entrance with no connection between them, moving between platforms requires leaving the station once and crossing the pedestrian crossing directly below it. Elevators for accessibility began service on the up-platform side on 28 March 2017, and on the down-platform side together with a new station building on 21 March 2019. The IC card "PASMO" became usable there from 1 April 2018. It is an unstaffed station where platform pushers are stationed during the crowded weekday morning hours.

Notes

Because the up and down platforms are not connected, transferring to a train in the opposite direction requires leaving the station once and crossing the road directly below it via the pedestrian crossing.
