History
Ferry Terminal Station opened on 16 March 1981, at the same time as the opening of the Osaka Municipal Transportation Bureau's Nanko Port Town Line (New Tram) between Suminoe-koen and Nakafuto stations. It became a station of Osaka Metro (Osaka City Rapid Electric Tramway) with the privatisation of the Osaka Municipal Transportation Bureau on 1 April 2018. It is an elevated station with an island platform serving two tracks; the ticket gates and concourse are on the second floor and the platform on the third floor, and full-height platform screen doors are installed. The Osaka Nanko Ferry Terminal lies east of the station and is connected to it by a covered footbridge. When it opened, it was the only station of the Osaka Municipal Transportation Bureau whose name was written entirely in katakana.
Notes
Despite its name, the neighbouring Nankōguchi Station is not the closest station to the ferry terminal, so a sign is posted on the Nankōguchi Station platform reading, "Passengers heading to the ferry pier should get off at Ferry Terminal Station."
