History
Enzan Station opened on 11 June 1903 as a Japanese Government Railways stop when the Chūō Main Line was extended between Hajikano (today's Kai-Yamato) and Kōfu. Freight handling continued until 1 February 1984. A new elevated station building was completed on 3 September 1986. With the JNR breakup on 1 April 1987 the station passed to JR East, and Suica IC service began on 16 October 2004. An elevator linking the platforms to the station building opened on 5 March 2011, and a south-exit elevator opened in 2013, making Enzan the first stop in the Kyōtō district with barrier-free access on both sides. From 16 March 2019 every Azusa limited express passed the station, and Azusa stops resumed on 14 March 2020 with two round trips calling in the morning and evening.
Notes
Enzan's downbound platform (track 1) has a dedicated boarding gate for the JR East cruise train Train Suite Shiki-shima.
