History

Enshū-Nishigasaki Station opened as Nishigasaki Station on 6 December 1909 and was renamed Enshū-Nishigasaki on 1 April 1923. Until 1944, the Hamamatsu Electric Railway's Kasai Line connected with the station. A depot was added on the east side of the station in November 1956, freight service ended in October 1973, and the electric-car works and depot were relocated to Nishikajima Station in December 1977. The station building was rebuilt in November 1979, and an east exit was added in June 1982. It is a ground-level station with one island platform serving two tracks; although it has a station building, it is unstaffed all day, and its station number is ET11. Hamamatsu City and Entetsu Railway plan to elevate a 1.6 km stretch of line that includes this station.

Notes

On a siding to the northeast of the station, an ED282 electric locomotive and three Class Hoki 800 freight cars are stabled; the site, making use of the former rolling-stock works, still serves as a ballast-loading base used in track maintenance work today.
