History
Aidai Igakubu Minami-guchi Station is a station on the Iyo Railway's Yokogawara Line that opened on 10 August 1981 in Shizukawa, Tōon, Ehime Prefecture. As its name suggests ("south entrance of Ehime University's Faculty of Medicine"), it takes its name from its location south of the Ehime University Faculty of Medicine, and the National Hospital Organization Ehime Medical Center also stands opposite it across Ehime Prefectural Route 193. It was operated unstaffed for a long time, but after construction of a new station building to accommodate increasing ridership and to guard against the cold, it became a staffed station on 31 March 2015. It is a small station with a single side platform serving one track, and its entrance is set toward the Yokogawara end of the platform. Its station number is IY23, and it is commonly abbreviated as Igakubu Station.
