History
Ega-no-shō Station opened newly on 1 June 1924 as a ground-level station with two opposed platforms serving two tracks, between Kawachi-Matsubara and Takawashi on the Osaka Railway. On 1 February 1943 the Kansai Express Railway merged with the Osaka Railway, and the station became one on the Kansai Express Railway's Tennōji Line. With the wartime consolidation of 1 June 1944, in which the Kansai Express Railway merged with the Nankai Railway to form Kintetsu (Kinki Nippon Railway), it was placed on the Minami Osaka Line. The IC card "PiTaPa" became usable from 1 April 2007. On 25 January 2024, to commemorate the 65th anniversary of Habikino's incorporation as a city, commemorative admission tickets with designs varying from those of other stations in the city were sold until 29 February of the same year.
Notes
The station's name, "Ega-no-shō," spells the "no" with a katakana character, whereas the place name of the surrounding area, also pronounced "Ega-no-shō," spells the "no" with a kanji character.
