History

Dosokohama Station opened on 15 December 1956 as a temporary halt and was upgraded to a full Japanese National Railways station on 15 March 1960. It began as an unstaffed station handling only diesel-railcar passenger traffic, and passed to JR East at the division and privatization of JNR in April 1987. Following the transfer of Naoetsu Station to Echigo Tokimeki Railway in March 2015, the district managing station was changed to Nagaoka Station. Located in Ōgata Ward, Jōetsu, Niigata Prefecture, it is a ground-level station with two opposed platforms serving two tracks; it has neither a footbridge nor a level crossing within the station grounds, and the two platforms are connected by a public-road level crossing on the Nagaoka side. It is an unstaffed station managed by Nagaoka Station.
